Water Supply System

The water supply system consists of two large storage tanks of 85,000 and 45,000 litres and a network of water mains and laterals. The primary source of water is from the hydro scheme penstock. A limited amount of water can be drawn off a creek in an emergency situation where the penstock supply is not available and the storage tanks have been depleted. The water at Milford Sound is untreated.

Pricing

Where customers sites are metered, water is supplied at $0.75 per cubic meter otherwise customers pay a fixed monthly usage charge for water. Connection charges also apply and are based upon a proportionate amount of each customer’s use of the MSI water supply infrastructure.
