Electricity Network

The distribution network consists of a backbone 3-phase 3.3kV network with sub-transmission at 415v. The network has two main nodes at the Milford Village diesel powerhouse and at the Cleddau Residential Area. The 3.3kV power cables connect the hydro and diesel generation to the Milford Village, Cleddau Residential Area, Milford Sound Lodge and wharf areas at Freshwater basin and Deep Water Basin.

Pricing

Electricity is sold at a base price of $0.25/kWh or 25 cents per unit. Line charges also apply which vary depending upon the particular capacity of the connection and location of each supply point relative to the generation sources.
